Pit Bull Muzzle Law?

Pit Bull Muzzle Law?

Someone pointed this out to me today >> Staffordshire Terriers, American Pit Bulls, Pit Bulls

and  Rottweilers must be muzzled when walking in

 Clairton, PA ??!!???

And, they state in the Ordinance that animals with the

propensity to attack such as an alligator,

crocodile...pit bull...must be registered and pay a $50 fee?!?

Breed profiling is ridiculous. But, mandatory muzzling of innocent dogs is taking it to a whole new level.

This makes the dog look like Hannibal Lecter.

This makes Pearl so sad!

Adopt, foster, donate or volunteer

Recently my daughter and her beloved cat, Carlos, posed for a calendar benefiting the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society.
(to order the 2014 "Our Best Friends" Calendar, Please click here: https://friendraising.towercare.com/Markslist/site/displaySite.do?siteIdCode=2ASHH4TU )

The shelter had two locations up until recently when the Fallen Timber location closed it's doors. The shelter was a huge part of the surrounding community. People used the shelter as a clinic for their animals and adopted family pets there. It was so much more than just a shelter for surrendered, lost or stray animals.

This prompted our very first visit to the North Shore location. We were amazed by how many wonderful animals were there.
Shortly after that visit, I attended charity event held by the Humane Society. They had several adoptable pets at the event. After that evening, I began looking through the adoptable dogs on their website: http://www.wpahumane.org/adopt.html

It can take some time to find an adoptable dog to fit your family. We were looking for a young, adult dog. It had to be good with cats and small children.
To broaden my search, I also utilized http://www.petfinder.com/ . You can easily search all shelters and rescues in your area. You can sort the results to only show dogs that meet your needs.

After weeks of searching, we come across a dog that came from a home with dogs, cats and children. She was located at the Animal Rescue League Shelter & Wildlife Center. We read more about her on their website: http://www.animalrescue.org/available-pets. We visited the shelter that weekend and luckily, she was still available.

We met her, fell in love and submitted our application. Our family was approved and we officially adopted Pearl that day.

Here's a photo from her adoption:

We hope to inspire other families to adopt not shop. Your new best friend is waiting for you at your local shelter or rescue. Adopt, foster, donate or volunteer. Their lives depend on it!
